Shaken, Kudos to Namaste London

I had stopped writing movie reviews for two reasons, first there are already so many available, and secondly at the rate I watch them it would have been a very time consuming task. But there are occassions which warrants for a change in the rules, prompts you to do what you haven't been doing. And so was last thurday when I went to take on "Namastey London". For close to 15 years know, I have been a avid movie fan, have successfully endured 100's of them (movies like Thin Red Line in class 12th and there are a few more that I would be too embarassed to name, just to say I felt I have it in me to watch anything if need be). actually watching movie, 1st day 1st show is a passion that was gifted to me by a very special friend. That friend's now no more, but the passion lingers and its a good timepass isn't it?As for the movie, am not sure words can describe it, only actions could and so I promplty said mid-way bhaago and my partners in crime rightly acted to the cry of retreat. Of the first one hour that I survived, was full of utter crap with miserable attempts at humor and few people reinforcing the fact that good looks doesn't necessarily tranforms into good acting skills. I will not write any further about the movie bcoz I have alread wasted enough time on it.

Now that I have told you about one movie that I definitely didn't like, I guess I should tell you about a few that you should definitely watch...there are so many, a better place to find it would be IMDB..okay if I had to say based on the mood now would be Notting Hill, good, clean, fun and has a happy ending.

My take on Fanaa

It took me a little more than 23 years to write my first blog and I couldn't even resist more than two days to pen down the next one. Although i recieved alot of appreciation(had to advertise alot for those good words:-)) from the people who matter, for my first blog I somehow found it a little strange on my part o have started off with a very serious blog on a very critical social issue. I felt it right so I did it at that point of time and now not wasting much time on rhetorics I will give you a light hearted review (my personal remarks) on the latest release of this week without revealing the story line....not revealing the story line because the movie is good...and since seldom do you find a good watchable hindi movie you should go and see it at the theatre rather than hear the story from me...Let me tell you how the movie appeals to me, makes me say it is good and is thankfully so different from the other mindless capers ....dished out in great numbers by Bollywood every weekend...for starters i liked the screen play of the movie, the dialogues, the richness of the language (and in parts their originality too....) what i wonder is that though someone can argue that you need big bucks to asemble the star cast that this film boasts of, how do you explain the needless inclusion of semi clad women (perfectly accepted if the script so demands), nasal noisy songs, gaudy item numbers and pathetic screen play with a lack of story to boot in the movies of today....which for me brings out a pertinent point about life in general....if your work lacks sincerity, honesty and discipline, innovation and brightness and you are on the look out for quick success (read money), more often than not you would fail...I see myself deviating into the draw backs of the Indian cinema so i wll spare these thoughts for a boring blog some other day:)...it has made good progress over the past few years and i am optimistic...then Tabu usually a very impressive actress in even "blink your eyes, you miss it" roles (remember her in Saathiya) is i feel wasted in the movie and doesn't look credible enough....Thats it...Go watch the movie and yeah no wqrds of praise do justice to the outstanding performance of the leading lady of the movie....
Cheers,
Sid
